Winnipeg, Manitoba – Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is one of 10 companies across Canada being recognized with The Learning Partnership Canada’s Outstanding Employer Award for its commitment to young people after its success this year in the Take Our Kids to Work program.
The program, which sees parents bring their Grade 9 children to work for a day was launched in 1994 by The Learning Partnership, a national charitable organization that champions a strong public education system. Wanting to recognize employers, who make exemplary commitments to students – Canada’s future work force, The Learning Partnership launched Canada’s Outstanding Employer Awards in 2011.
Submissions were evaluated by a panel of experts, academic professionals and corporate supporters and judged based on five criteria: participant feedback; community commitment and involvement; creativity and innovation, health and safety; partnership and future career opportunities.
The other nine award recipients are: Canadian Natural Resources Limited (Calgary, Alberta), Candu Energy Inc. (Mississauga, Ontario), CBC/Radio-Canada – National coordination (Toronto, Ontario), Copernicus Educational Products Inc. (Arthur, Ontario), Deloitte (Toronto, Ontario), The Fairmont Waterfront (Vancouver, British Columbia), Metrolink (Toronto, Ontario), Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. (Mississauga, Ontario) and Toronto Hydro (Toronto, Ontario).
In October, APTN was also named, for the second consecutive year, one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, and the network has been one of Manitoba’s Top Employers since 2009.
